This weekend we had planned to go camping, but...

Life has a way of throwing curveballs that change our plans.

After a long weekend and following week at work, 

my husband needed some down time, which meant, 

NOT packing up six of us to go camping this weekend...

So what do you do when life throws curveballs?

(After you pout and get over the sadness, of course!?!)

Win a different way!!

That is my motto for life.

If you play Settlers of Catan you know what I mean.

Someone takes away your ability to get the longest road?

...Win a different way!  Don't let it ruin your game.  

There are many ways to win, so find another way...

Life is like that too.

Doors often shut.

Opportunities become dead ends.

What you thought would be wasn't.

Life isn't what you expected?

Win a different way...

I'm not saying it is always easy.

But there is always another way to win...

 So this weekend, instead of camping, we packed a picnic lunch and headed off to Washington Park.

We played on the super fun spinning thing, played 'I'm King of the whatever' (where you try to push each other off and keep your balance), played on the rocks by the water, found hermit crabs, 

discovered places in Anacortes we didn't know were there...

we won a different way!

And because we brought our friend Dan, 

who is also our tour guide and photographer...

we got these super cool pictures!

It wasn't what I had hoped and planned for all week,
but we won a different way.
Made memories.  Laughed.  Had fun together...
And really, that's what we were hoping for when we planned to go camping, so we got the same big picture result.  
And that's what matters... right?
