He did it!

On Thursday of last week,
Mark's friend/co-worker/running partner
approached him with an opportunity.
His nephew signed up to do a 1/2 marathon
but wasn't prepared so he was backing out.
Would Mark be interested in doing it?
Wait.  He hasn't prepared either!
Well, he has been running at lunch time with Jamie.
Five miles here and there...But a half marathon??

After some encouragement and coercion from "Coach" Jamie,
on Saturday morning, Mark decided he would do it.
It would be a good challenge, prepared or unprepared.
A great opportunity, right?

Saturday afternoon, Mark made some bad choices!
We went to a pig roast and he consumed
way too much of everything...
This is the guy who only eats what his body likes.
And all that he consumed, his body didn't like.
But, as only Mark can do, he did what he needed to do.
I'll spare you the details, but it involved the middle of the night,
a trip outside so he wouldn't wake me up,
and an emptying of the excessive fullness
that prevented his sweet slumber...
(sorry. that is gross.)

If you think this is crazy, it is.
BUT, this guy, he did it!
He ran his first half marathon in 2 hours 7 seconds,
with very little preparation!!
We already thought he was amazing,
but now we are truly amazed!!
What. A. Guy!

Tara,
You are so great and supportive. I'm so blessed to have a helper like you. I wouldn't make it without you.

Thank you
