Best gifts ever...

...come from Dollar Tree!

Well, not really, but kind of.

I copied a friend's idea of doing the 12 days/bags of Christmas, with a different activity to do together each day. We had a lot of fun with all the ideas, but one of my favorites was going to the Dollar Tree.

We went for our 50 cent drumstick-get-us-out-of-the-house lunch at Haggen, and read the card there. It said to go to the Dollar Tree and shop for presents for their siblings.

So I went to the bank, got lots of one dollar bills, gave them each a basket and said, "Don't let the other kids see you, and pick out something you think they'll love!"

Best idea ever!!

They had so much fun choosing what they thought their brothers and sisters would like, then got to take their dollar bills and buy it.

Watching them be 'sneaky' and choose gifts (the perfect gifts) was priceless. But watching them get home and immediately wrap the gifts, then anticipate giving them to each other was amazing!!

Even better, (can it get any better?), was watching them open their gifts on Christmas morning and see that they all know each other so well, they picked out the perfect gifts! It was the gift that kept on giving.

Ellie got Stephen a magnifying glass,
Stephen got Ellie a dog with a soccer ball...

Danica got Stephen a box of Whoppers,
Stephen got Danica some fun grape chapstick!

Ellie got Danica a mini pool table game,
Danica got Ellie a penguin stuffed animal.

Jonathan got Danica a box of Milk Duds,
Danica got Jonathan a package of 'toot' noise-makers...

Stephen got Jonathan green silly string spray,
Jonathan got Stephen a fun coloring book...

Ellie got Jonathan his own gumball machine,
Jonathan got Ellie her own package of Milky Way bars...

I have noted to myself, be sure to do this again next year, and heck, why not...we'll do it for birthdays too!!

Very Fun! Every year Chad goes to the Dollar Store to find fun things to fill the kids stockings....the stockings are his work alone, he likes it that way! He always comes home with the best finds!
